A Conspiracy of Silence

April 23, 2020April 23, 2020 ~ David Mercer ~ 1 Comment

Will God Answer for His Actions?

March 30, 2020March 30, 2020 ~ David Mercer ~ 8 Comments

Over my time as a minister, people whispered these questions to me, often ashamed to put them into words. I’m articulating them in hopes of engaging their thinking.

The Church that Wants to Kill People

June 16, 2019June 17, 2019 ~ David Mercer ~ Leave a comment

Don’t just assure the world that you’re not like them. Show that you’re different. Stand up for the LGBT and tell your brothers and sisters at Revival Baptist Church that they should be ashamed of teaching their children to hate and kill people.

May 25, 2019May 25, 2019 ~ David Mercer ~ 2 Comments

Standing Apart from the Crowd

February 23, 2019June 29, 2019 ~ David Mercer ~ 8 Comments

I’ve been observing crowds all my life. I’ve seen them get sad, anxious, giddy, angry, reactive, and just plain stupid. People who were generally thoughtful as individuals could lose their ability to think for themselves when influenced by a crowd.

One of My Biggest Regrets

July 11, 2018July 11, 2018 ~ David Mercer ~ 9 Comments

I later apologized for my anger but every week when I had to see that guy in church, I had to resist the urge to grab him by the lapels, pin him to the wall, and express my feelings.

I Won’t Stay Quiet

October 22, 2017October 22, 2017 ~ David Mercer ~ 3 Comments

The church claims to be an instrument of truth. How do people find truth if they are not allowed to ask, seek, and knock? Is the institution really so fragile that it can’t handle my voicing my thoughts?
